About o-tsukimi or tsukimi:
The O-tsukimi (お 月見), Literally "the contemplation of the moon",  is a Japanese festival celebrating the full moon of autumn. It occurs the 15th day of the eighth month on the 13th day of the nine month of the lunar calendar. Today it is celebrated in September and ends at the new moon.
This celebration originally from China is very popular in Japan since the Heian Period (784 to 1185 / 1192). It is dedicated to the moon and it marks the end of the harvest. For the occasion, the Japanese meet  friends and watch the moon (tsuki).

During O-tsukimi, the Japanese people eat "dango", the culinary specialty made with mochi     (glutinous rice paste). And of course they admire the moon  because if you pay attention to the picture on your left you can distinguish  a rabbit making mochi.
Many kind of specialties are also made for the event, for example the udon boiled with a raw egg, named udon tsukimi . Fast-food also offer new burgers with an egg  inside, called the tsukimi burger (the egg recall the moon).
