In Japanese folklore, the rokurokubi (轆轤首) looks like an ordinary woman by day. At night, while she sleeps, her neck stretches to an impossible length and her head wanders through the house, sometimes to lick the oil of the paper lanterns. Many tales say she does not even know what she is.

This design shows her in an Edo-period woodblock print style (ukiyo-e): a red floral kimono, a long pale neck winding through the clouds, a full moon and her name in kanji on a traditional cartouche.
