Authentic Katsudon Essentials

Katsudon is a popular Japanese dish consisting of a deep-fried pork cutlet (tonkatsu) simmered in a sweet and savory dashi-based sauce with onions and eggs. Served over a steaming bed of rice, this hearty and flavorful meal is a true comfort food staple in Japan. To enjoy this dish traditionally, it is best served in deep authentic Japanese bowls (Donburi), which are specifically designed to retain heat and hold the perfect balance of rice, meat, and sauce.
